Since his parents were on the pioneer trek during his birthday, we were a little "off" this year. But grandparents (and some cousins :) were on top of things and gave him some cute toys - a fun doggie to pull and a car to push and ride. Later in the month, at a family dinner, we gave him his cake. And because he loves to play in the dirt (he's ALL boy) I thought it'd be appropriate to make him a "dirt" cake with something for him to play with in the dirt. He wasn't sure what to do with all the cake on his hands, but loved the tractor!

i can't believe it has been a year! i love sam's cake. it is also super nice when they are young and so easy to please - we can get away with things like that.
