introducing Ruby Alice

Our new little bundle arrived at 1:46 last Tuesday afternoon after a short, 6-hour labor and only one push. She was 19 inches long and weighed 6 lbs. 12 ozs. - more than 2 lbs. less than Johnny Boy!
Both Momma and Baby are doing well. She likes to eat and I'm up and busy with my boys already (it's hard to ignore them!) Between the 3, they keep me busy!
She wasn't quite latching on correctly at the first, so I got an infection. My medicine turned her mouth a bit purple - she's so embarassed! :)
Ruby is a quiet baby and already sleeps 6 hours at night. She's our little angel and we love her so! Sam loves to hold her and while John can get a little crazy with toys around her head, he can be real soft and loving, too. We're so lucky to get a little girl to stick around here on earth with us. I'm excited for all the fun I will have with my little sidekick in the future. Yay for Ruby!

question

I have a question for all of you mom's who've had more than one baby. Did your tummy get bigger with each one, passing the typical size for each week? I just had my dr. appt. and found out I'm measuring 27 weeks when I'm only 25. I was always right on with my other 2 and have been up to this point with this one. Just wondering, from other's experience, if my stomach is just stretching faster or if I should prepare for a big baby. Hmm, I don't know which one is harder to handle?!!

Besides that, baby is doing well. I really think he moves more than my other kids did. In fact, last night I woke up to him beating me up from the inside. Elton reminds me that it's MY family with the hyperactive background. Nice.

great news

Well, we went in for a full ultrasound this morning and found out that baby is doing well. He has a strong heart, normal body, and looks great!
Oops, did I say "he"? I guess I let it slip -- we're having another boy! And we're excited that Sam will have a boy buddy to teach all his tricks to. They'll be just 18 months apart, so I have a feeling they will give me quite the run.

Coming in December

So this isn't the greatest photo of Sam (he snuck a Cheerio in right before the picture!) but we're so excited for what's coming! I had my first dr. appt. last week and I could see the miraculous little heart beat in the little 2-part body. It's so crazy how fast they grow and develop in 9 months! Sam's ready for a buddy, so we'll keep you posted for if he gets a brother or a sister. Yay!!!
