my take on a play kitchen from nightstands

I wish I had the "before" shot, too, but I was so excited to start that I just forgot. I looked all over the internet for inspiration:

I love the ones from entertainment centers and actually found some being given away on KSL, but, thinking of space, I finally decided I had just the right nightstand for the project. It just needed a hole cut out for the sink. I used a large wooden "J" from the craft store for the faucet.

I found the second nightstand at a garage sale for a couple bucks, added the tall back and shelf, removed the drawers, made doors to my liking from scrap wood, and finished it all off with some paint. I like that the 2 nightstands can be moved around into any arrangement.

My favorite parts are the scallops and chalkboard painted on the side. Also the bright, cheery paint.

My boys have already roughed it up by baking tractors, bringing dirt in it, leaving real food all over in it, and generally just enjoying it to pieces :)

Oh, and the cute little red table was $8 at IKEA. It's actually an end table - the kids tables are a lot more expensive!
