presenting John Winslow

John Winslow was born Dec. 22, weighing 8 lbs. 13 oz. and measuring 21 inches long. He was a full pound heavier than either of my other two and I sure felt it! Labor was a lot shorter - 7 hours, but I thought about getting an epidural to spare my husband (and myself) the long, drawn-out pain. Luckily the anesthesiologist was in the O.R. with twins and couldn't come, because John came not much later after I requested it. (I really didn't want to have one because of the catheter and delayed getting up and moving afterwards. Plus, Elton thought if I didn't get one I could use the money it would have cost to go shopping afterwards - such a great thought! Too bad I'm not big on spending our money:)
He's eating well, which is such a relief after my experience with Sam (I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it stays that way!). The drawback to that is a plethora of dirty diapers, blowouts, and messy outfits. We've had to change his clothes with every feed/diaper change since midnight - that's 6 times so far! Hopefully that will slow so the washing machine can get a break - and me, too.
Sam absolutely loves his little brother. We have to keep John up and out of his reach because he loves to hug and kiss him, or just rub his head...or poke his eyes. I've got to get pictures to remember these moments before they're old enough to be partners in crime, which I'm sure will come in the blink of an eye. Oh, how I love being a mommy of 3! It's amazing how your heart just opens up to love more as they come. I wouldn't trade them and these moments for anything!

Congratulations! Isn't this the best Christmas present ever?! I am impressed you did it without the epidural. I wish I didn't have to have c-sections so I wouldn't have to have an epidural, catheter, IV, pain afterwards etc.

You all look great. I hope we can get together soon.

Congrats, He definitly looks like an Orme. Neil and I have decided it is the nose. I am sure Sam is loving him, and watch out they will be partners in crime very soon. You will love it though. Having them close together is a little hard at times, but is so nice when they start to play together. And by the way you looked awesome after just having a baby. Tell congrats to Elton. We love you guys!

congrats to your whole family! We are so happy for you! But I agree with Merilee, you are not supposed to look that good right after having him!
